If you want to escape winter, it’s not necessary to travel far away from Europe. There are many places in Europe where temperatures rarely fall below 20c in winter. Canary Islands

Probably the warmest place to be in Europe during winter months is on one of the Canary Islands. Located in the Atlantic sea, north-west from Africa, the islands day temperatures in winter rarely fall below +20c for air, and +18c for sea.

Madeira

Another island in the Atlantic ocean, yet closer to the continental Europe. In the coldest month of February, you can expect average day temperature of 16c. And did you know that Madeira has the world’s largest laurel forest?

Malta

Even though Malta is not a top choice for the beach holidays due to the rocky coast with hard access to swim, it’s still worth a visit in winter for sightseeing and exploring.

Crete

Crete is Greece’s largest and most populated island. Crete is famous for its beaches and crystal clear sea water, the island is considered as a place for earliest recorded civilization in Europe and there are several historic sites to explore including remnants of Roman and Turkish aqueducts and ancient Minoan ruins around the island.

Cyprus

After Sicily and Sardinia, Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Although the island is geographically in Asia it is politically a European country and is a member of the European Union.
