The Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) are three countries of north-eastern Europe, on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. The three small countries together have a population of 6 million people, nearly half of them live in Lithuania.
Baltic countries have long and interesting history and an impressive cultural heritage influenced by Scandinavians, Germans, Poles and Russians. Countries are of a relatively small size: from the northmost Estonian capital Tallinn to the southmost Lithuanian capital Vilnius you can get in less than 2 hours by plane or 8 hours by ground transportation.
Each of the three countries has its own language, with English and Russian widely understood.
